On June 10, SEPCO signed an EPC contract with Saudi Aramco for Jazan 3850 MW IGCC project, which is currently the world's largest oil gasification power plant. This is a gift presented to the China-Saudi Arabia friendship and China's strategy of Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
The project is located near a refinery in Jazan Economic Area, and will be fueled by gasification syngas from the refinery's residual oil. 2400MW generation capacity will be provided to external users and the rest will be used by the refinery. Featuring technology, scale, efficiency, energy saving, and environmental protection, the project will become a critical power source and a model gasification power plant in Jazan and the entire western region of Saudi Arabia.
Aramco corporate standards (higher than ASME, API), 3D digital design and global sourcing make the project a high-end project in the world's power market. In the extremely stagnant EPC market of the world's power station sector, SEPCO successfully defeated 14 European, American, Japanese and South Korean companies which have been long been in a dominant position in the Middle East market, and this fully demonstrates SEPCO's international competitiveness.
Winning this bid benefits from leadership and support of POWERCHINA and the good job done by SEPCO. Through internal reform and management improvement, SEPCO again shows the competitiveness of its brand in the market.
This project signifies the shift of SEPCO's strategic focus from pure marketing to marketing and project implementation. SEPCO will mobilize its elite forces and stick to high-end practices, strive to make the project a model in the Middle East market and lay a solid foundation for further expansion in the Middle East market.
